1968 Camaro Sports Coupe Ash Gold Maple Lake, MN Complete repaint in Ash Gold
~ Completed May 15, 2009
This Camaro, due to rock chips, showed an aged Ash Gold appearance and needed to be refreshed. Previous
restoration showed that new panels had been installed and the Camaro had been refinished with RM Lacquer paint. Steve removed
the old paint down far enough to see what repairs were under the old paint. It turned out that previous primer used was
adhering to the sheet metal, so we were able to re-prime using todays 2 stage primers, block sand and refinish with PPG Base
Coat Clear Coat Color system. Owner wanted a metallic Bumble Bee stripe, so we suggested a black stripe topped with a multi
color fine metallic custom appearance. Bumble Bee Stripe shows black from a distance, but as you move closer the Camaro stripe
shows multi colors sparkles (Brighter the sun, brighter the sparkles).
Some cars do not need restoration just a
fresh coat of color using today’s high quality refinishing products that last longer and hold up better.
1968 Chevy Camaro SS ~Vintage 1968 Appearance
& Shine~
The owners (Harley & Sue)
of this 1968 Camaro SS met Steve the first time at the Pair-of-Dice Cruiser Car Show in Delano, MN. (2008).
Steve & his wife had their 1965 Nova & 1966 Nova entered in the car show. Harley & Sue liked the paint
appearance & shine on Steve's Novas. They had their 1968 Camaro at the car show and Harley asked Steve to take
a look at the rock chips on his Camaro. He wanted to know how much it would cost to have rock chips removed. Steve wrote
up an estimate, emailed it to Harley, and 6 months later Harley and Sue scheduled their 1968 Camaro SS with Steve.
